Ghosts, spirits, angels, demons, gods
As all of you know, these are one of my favorite characters. The wonderful thing about ghosts, angels, demons, and gods is they are so unpredictable! They can appear anywhere, so just about anything, and create more trouble than a kindergarten class in a crystal shop. Angels can be good or bad, wage war on anyone, or be… well, angelic! Gods can create havoc on a global scale and those wacky demons just like to possess things. And of course there is nothing more wonderful than a tame haunting going terribly wrong.
PRIZE: eCopy of A Ghost of a Chance

So here is what I want to know:
1. Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one? Tell us about it!
2. If you could be a god, what would you be a god of and why?
3. Do you think you may have a guardian angel looking over your shoulder? Why?
4. Who is your favorite demon, angel, ghost or god? Why?
Welcome to the Spirit portion of our forum...
ReplyDeleteHI Minnette! Thought I would drop by, must get my fried food, apple pie, and ice cream butt to exercise. Will stop by soon!
ReplyDeleteBTW - I have no problem believing there are ghosts and other amazing things in the world. Now if they would just come visit.
Thanks, Toni... I know about those butt exercises... although they are rather lonely these days... See you in a bit!
ReplyDeleteThese are always some interesting things! xD; Its fun seeing how they interact with others and how writers write them. I have some problems with Angels & demon writing at times, just cause certain things hit too close for religious beliefs.
ReplyDelete1. Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one? Tell us about it!
Sorta? At a house in Ohio we lived at, I saw civil war skeletons with swords.. creepy and terrifying.
2. If you could be a god, what would you be a god of and why?
Oh um.. xD;; I think perhaps darkness, or Fire.. xD Loki when I think of fire, and then my own character when I think of Darkness, cause not all darkness is bad.
3. Do you think you may have a guardian angel looking over your shoulder? Why?
I think so, or at least Angels watching over me, cause they protected me in my wreck. My car didn't over turn like it probably should of instead it was just front damage.
4. Who is your favorite demon, angel, ghost or god? Why?
Oh yum.. xD Again I don't think I have a favorite demon.. Angel? Michael perhaps that seems sorta appropriate for some reason. ghosts? I dunno really oh Cassie's ghost in Karen Chance's series! he's so funny. As for god uhm.. besides personal beliefs for Jesus Christ.. I would have to say Loki (Norse), Anubis, Isis (Egypt), Nyx (Greek).. Now there are some of those running around in my head too ;o)
Late to the party, so just going to pop in and say hi. Believe in ghosts, never seen one though. Yes I have a guardian angel, because I didn't get hit by a flying bullet and really don't have an answer for #2 or #4.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in spirits, but think it is fun to pretend.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would actually want to be a God, but if I had to chose, I would like to be the God of fertility, to help the members of my family who have struggled to have children.
I absolutely believe I have a guardian angel. On more than one occasion, things have happened to save me from serious harm that couldn't have happened without divine intervention.
My favorite angel is Castiel from the TV show Supernatural. Not only is he yummy to look at, but he is so tortured by the things he has had to do.
Hey Minnette :)
ReplyDeleteI love ghosts, and now onto the questions.. :D
1. Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one? Tell us about it!
There isn't a doubt in my mind or my heart that ghosts exist. I could feel for Keenan in Ghost of a Chance, because I've seen more than my fair share of them.
I grew up in Denver, and up on Lookout Mountain near Golden is Buffalo Bill's Grave. Now while I haven't seen him, I have seen plenty of ghosts along Lariat Trail, the back road leading down to Golden. You see it is a steep winding road with a posted speed limit of 20 mph, but kids being what they are, they liked partying and racing down it late at night. My mom used to tell me that in order to get my drivers license I had to pass the Lariat Trail test. I couldn't bring myself to drive that road, but she finally made me. You see, my older brother used to take me up there, while he raced his friends, and there is this one curve, it's really a sharp hairpin, and there is a ravine that for many years (from way back in the 40's and 50's on) cars hadn't been able to be recovered from since they didn't have portable cranes and all back then, and at one point the cars stacked up almost even with the road, or so my mother tells me. (good way to keep a kid from wanting a driver's license if you ask me.) Anyways, I always felt like I was being watched, and the more I paid attention, the more I started noticing them. Guys in leather Jackets, Girls in Poodle skirts, Flower Children, and more. They would appear and shake their heads at the curve, as yet another teenager tried to take it doing 40 or more. They were always so sad, and it seemed like my brother and his friends didn't notice them. Eventually they reinforced the barrier there, and there were less serious accidents, but I never forgot those sad lonely faces, shaking their heads. Once I got my license I used to drive up there during the sanity of daylight, and sit on the tailgate of my truck reading whatever book I had with me aloud. I don't remember looking around very often, but I am fairly certain they were listening to me read. In the end it became one of my favorite places to get-away. Ghosts and All.
2. If you could be a god, what would you be a god of and why?
If I could be a goddess, I'd probably be a goddess of the earth, that helps the plants grow and protects the animals. Simply because they need more protection at times than the humans.
3. Do you think you may have a guardian angel looking over your shoulder? Why?
Yes. Because I don't know a lot of kids that would have shattered a windshield with their head, and not ended up with a concussion or anything. ~grins~ that's why mom says I'm hard headed, of course, it's also why I say she's blind as a bat, you see she was driving at the time. LoL but that was years ago, doesn't mean I believe any less that Angels, guardian and otherwise exist. Someone has to watch over us... whether its a loved one lost too soon, or an ancestor who is shaking their head, or a frustrated Angel who wonders just how it is possible for one person to get into so much trouble.
4. Who is your favorite demon, angel, ghost or god? Why?
Um.. I can't answer that, I might make them start fighting.
:-D
Christiana
I got lost!!! Whew, found you! Funny story. Had a ghost in a house in VA, only son could see him (now swears it was anything but that). Anyway, we couldn't sell the house. People kept running out. I finally stood in the hall and invited him to either come with us or pick someone he liked and stay, because we couldn't. House sold the next week.
ReplyDeleteI love the vulnerable ghost types. My fav is the one on Being Human.
Hi everyone! Glad to have made it here!
ReplyDeleteIn reply to the questions... Yes I believe in ghosts, and I've seen them. Back around the time The Blair Witch Project came out, I was visiting friends in Vermont with my family. The friends own a farm that's over 100 years old. Late one night, I was walking downstairs to get water, and the ghost of a woman was walking upstairs as I went down. I watched her walk through the wall into the room I was sleeping in. Needless to say, I slept with my parents that night.
If I were a goddess, I'd be the goddess of magic because true magic requires understanding and love of the environment and positivity.
I do have a guardian angel. It's my grandma Mimi. The last thing she did before passing away was give her car over to me. Since then, I've had 2 near misses with car accidents in that car, and both times, something was with me in the car, keeping me from being injured. Plus, shortly after those incidents, I've had dreams with my grandmother featuring prominently in them, telling me that she loves me and is watching out for me.
I have two favorite gods. Both are my patrons. Hades and Isis. Hades awaits me at the end of my journey through life (which will hopefully be a LONG time from now) and also provides me with the precious metals and jewels I like so much. ;) Isis is here for me through life, reminding me that each day is magic and should be valued.
Boy... I leave for 2 minutes...
ReplyDeleteAwesome answers! I love that everyone thought they had a guardian angel looking over them. I don't think you can come close to death without thinking someone is watching over you. The other wonderful thing is that all of your chose nurturing god/goddesses. I think that's probably true for most women. I feel the same way. I think I would love to be something like Mother Nature bringing beautiful things to life. I think all of you know what I think about ghosts! LOL The poll is interesting too... The Ghost & Mrs. Muir (the original movie from the sixties) is one of my favorite all time movies. It is so romantic and funny. ~sigh~ Are there other paranormal movies you like?
I really do believe in ghosts and spirits, because I have cats. It's freaky when they suddenly both look up to a corner, then you hear a weird noise or something strange happens. I'm sure my parents, brother and other relatives watch out for us. I for one, am grateful. I need all the help I can get.
ReplyDeleteI used to call my Lucy Cat, Her Royal Lucyness, The Petite Goddess, because she was so regal. Except one time the vet said, "She's not very petite."
Shannon, love the story about selling your house! I really believe we have to laugh and so my favorite ghost movie is "Ghostbusters"!
I wish I lived in a haunted house again... Not a "soul" here but us live ones!
ReplyDeleteHi, Isis! Thanks for coming over. I think we talked about this before, but I also had a grandma Mimi and that's what my family calls me (and the people at work).
Hi Shanon! We're giving away your book later today... I can't wait! :o)
Hi, Julie! I love that your believe in ghosts because of your cats... I KNOW the cat formerly known as Spook is half in and half out, like Constantine says.
ReplyDeleteThat's part of the reason I want a cat (or two) when I have a place where I can keep them (and I can afford them).
ReplyDeleteMy friends think my respect of cats is weird, but they're amazed because cats LOVE me. Cats seem to know that I love them and revere them, and as such, even "evil" cats let me pet them... But yeah, I think my house is haunted and having a cat would help me know when stuff is about to happen.
I love the movie Ghost Ship. I love how the evil spirit can control and use the ghosts who might have done bad in their lives but he can't control the spirit of the innocent child. She is beyond his reach, and you can tell it irritates him.
ReplyDeleteCats are nice, they love me, but I'm allergic to them. :(
~Christiana~
Cats are definitely helpful with ghosts... in the next Ghost book, Dyna is going to have a very special cat, but that's all I'm going to say right now... :o)
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the movie, Christiana... if I recall, that one was rather creepy ~shivers~
I'm not a fan of most ghost movies, especially if it's a scary movie...
ReplyDeleteThough I do admit to loving Ghostbusters and Casper. Those are fun ghost movies! :)
Forgot about Casper... that was a great movie. Back when Ricci was still young and innocent.
ReplyDelete1. Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one? Tell us about it!
ReplyDeleteI do believe in ghosts, I've never personally seen one but I have got that creepy crawly feely sometimes! Certain areas, like Melrose, Massachusetts was one place, really old creepy houses there! lol
2. If you could be a god, what would you be a god of and why?
I had to do this for one of my humanities classes.. I think it was Greek Mythology and I'm going to stick to that answer ;) I would be either the Goddess of Sleep or the Goddess of Love. I love love sleeping so being a god of it makes sense to me.. and for love, I'm just a loving person and I really love people, animals, life so being the Goddess of Love makes sense to me ;)
3. Do you think you may have a guardian angel looking over your shoulder? Why?
Hmm I'm not sure but I'd like to think we all have our own guardian angels that watch over us, love us, care for us and hold us when life isn't going well. I like to think when we do silly things when no one is watching that they like to laugh with us as well. ;)
4. Who is your favorite demon, angel, ghost or god? Why?
I can't pick just one ;) I like Larissa Iones Demonica Series and adore all the demons in that one. I found a new angel series I like by Kristina Douglas with angels. Haven't read too many with ghosts or Gods but I guess I'd pick Sherrilyn Kenyon because there are certain God characters in that series I really dig :)
Sorry I'm late ;) Was debating my answers first lol :) I see the party is in full swing :D Now to play catch up :D
I prefer Ricci in Addams Family and Addams Family Values. Wednesday and I get along WAY too well! ;) LOL
ReplyDeleteHi, Minnette. I am thrilled to be here. I have to go with Ghost and Mrs. Muir. First movie I reacquired after Katrina--a true romance. Casper was so good, too.
ReplyDeleteIn The Shoppe of Spells, Mrs. T can sense things that we can't see. Mine was always freaking me out. Alone...late at night...she raise her hackles and stare. I hope it was the ghost I mentioned earlier--
Chelsea, you can have Ash, but I get Savitar! :D (Spike doesn't count in this conversation, as he's a vampire, and only a demi-demon...)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE creepy houses, Chelse! But I'm a sucker for anything creepy... I worry about myself sometimes...
ReplyDeleteWe'll be talking about vamps a little later, Isis, then we can compare them! LOL
TSOS is up next on my TBR pile, Shanon and I can't wait. I just wish I have the time to read I did before I started writing! ~sigh~
I live in Newnan--the City of Homes--and most of them are haunted, or so I'm told by my pest girl. There are one's they refuse to treat. A lot of the houses survived the Civil War by being hospitals. There are some angry ghost downtown.
ReplyDeleteMinette, I understand. But, honestly, we'd rather you write. :)
ReplyDelete*pouts at Isis* but Savitar is more interesting than Ash, he's got too much baggage, besides he's TAKEN, are you trying to get me killed? didn't his mate get some powers from his mommy? She's almost as scary as Ash LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteShanon your cat senses things like you wrote? now that is creepy lol :P
LOL Minnette you are crazy :P some of those places really freak me out :P I can't imagine doing the REALLY creepy ones that are like known hauntings and you can really see stuff *shivers* I'd probably cry like a baby *grins*
ohhh you'll love TSOS Minnette, its fab ;) I have a review of it up on Goodreads :P Its very unique for Paranormal and I really liked that :D
Chelsea, be grateful I didn't give you Nick! ;) (Sorry, can't stand him now...)
ReplyDeleteShanon-what is a pest girl? I'm intrigued! Don't worry, I'll keep writing... what else can I do?
ReplyDeleteI know, Chelse! That's what I mean... one of my secret dreams is to be on a Ghost Hunter hunt! But I honestly thing ghosts can't hurt you, not seriously, mind you. I can't wait to read it!
Yuck I don't want Nick! :P my BFF actually likes the YA series with him and I've read one of them and it was okay, but I'm just not really interested in him, he's kind of a jerk lol
ReplyDeleteLOL you'd want to go freak yourself out? XD But, what if certain ghosts could hurt you? Throw knives at you etc?? Would you still want to go? LOL :P
LOL Chelsea, I don't know about Minnette, but I would, but I'm strange like that. My mom calls it my obsession with things that go bump in the night, like vampires and werewolves, and creepy little brownies that are supposed to do good deeds but really cause mischief.
ReplyDeleteChristiana
Hehehe, I don't want Nick either! He annoys me! (ooh, how about Styxx? I kind of like him, and would love to redeem him!)
ReplyDeleteAnd Minnette, add me to the list of people who want to go on a Ghost Hunter hunt! I'd have so much fun!
I don't think so, but from what I've researched, ghosts are just people like you and me and they don't have a whole lot of power in the physical universe. That's why you don't see them often. I honestly think there are a lot more out there than we know of.. :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's fun to be interested in/explore the paranormal. :)
ReplyDelete"creepy brownies" - Too funny! Do you know that brownies are actually mythical creature who help a family around the house? Here's a link: http://www.mythcreatures.co.uk/beasts/brownies.asp - But I've always had my suspicions of those cute little girls in their strange uniforms...
ReplyDeleteGot you on the list, Isis... I'm sure it has millions before us!
Lol Christiana Minnette is ALL for going hunting like that! I guess I'm weird though.. I'm not really into "ghosts" so to speak but I'm also extremely fascinated with Vampires/Werewolves, I created a intro type thing on my homepage on my website that basically sums it up for me (www.paranormaladdicts.com ) if you want to look :D
ReplyDeleteIsis, he's definitely too annoying, I'd be okay with Styxx, yum, even though he's kind of a *** I'm intrigued with him and agree there should be some redemption there...
Minnette ohh like that one quote thing? About there are more things in the universe than we could possibly ever imagine? I agree.. I read somewhere there is a new galaxy discovered with like 300 "earth-like" planets that have air, water etc! Makes my mind kind of goggle thinking about it :)
Oops... past 1:00 - The winner of A Ghost of a Chance is... Jean P. Send me an email with your format choice. BTW, if you already have A Ghost of a Chance then pick one of my other books...
ReplyDeleteOnto the next one! :o)
Yes Creepy Brownies, and I know the story of the mythical creatures, it was used when I was in Brownies by my scout leader, LoL, that's why I call them creepy. You know as well as I do that people would consider it breaking and entering, and an invasion of privacy if they had sprites come in and clean their house or something like that. Of course, the brownies are always welcome creepy or not at my house, lol I hate cleaning, but it is a necessary evil.
ReplyDeleteLOL Chelsea, that's all the fun. I've actually only wrong one ghost story, and I just don't think it's marketable, I can't make it a HEA story. I refuse to. The hero dies, the heroine lives, life sucks and that's that, at least she get's hot ehm, yeah with a ghost. ~wink~
Christiana
1. I think so during a girl scout outing....
ReplyDelete
