DANI HARPER - Guest Post and Giveaway!!

Shapeshifters, Werewolves and Changelings, oh my!

My new PNR series is about the Macleod family and their friends.  Long-lived and able to become wolves at will, they call themselves Changelings.  Almost two centuries ago, they were forced to flee the wolf exterminations in Scotland and start a new life in the wilderness of northern Canada.

Today, that wilderness has been largely settled, and an entire community has sprung up around the Changelings.  The Macleods and their pack live as humans most of the time, hiding in plain sight.  But there’s just enough unspoiled forest left for them to joyfully run as wolves whenever they please.  They seem to have the best of both worlds – but there are still dangers lurking for their kind.  And love, when it arrives, brings dangers and complications of its own.

The two highest laws in the Changeling world are never harm a human and never turn a human against their will.  The wolf within, however, has its own primal rules. If a Changeling’s life is in danger, the wolf will emerge to defend it. It will also rise, unbidden, to defend a mate at all costs. And Changelings mate for life.

ChangelingMoon and Changeling Dream came out in May and June of 2011 and the reviews have been wonderful.  Changeling Dawn was just released.  Again, the reviews have been great.  I’m very excited about this third book – I feel that it’s the best yet and I’m so glad I can finally share it with my readers!

Check out Chelsea's Reviews.

BLURB & EXCERPT FROM CHANGELING DAWN:

Kenzie Macleod has spent her whole life hiding what she is, and she’s not about to open up to any man, even one as powerfully attractive as wildlife expert Josh Talarkoteen. But legend says that a Changeling cannot escape the call of her true mate, even in the wilderness of backcountry Alaska.

An isolated archeological site, a terrified Changeling cub, a secretive research center -- as Kenzie and Josh face the ultimate betrayal, his obsidian eyes promise untold pleasure and hint at dark secrets of his own.

“Wait a minute, you’re Canadian?” she asked.

“It’s a long story. I’ll tell you about it when we go out for dinner. Would you prefer bowling or dancing afterwards?” It was satisfying to see her control wobble as she steered the truck to the shoulder.

“Jeez, do you feel sorry for me or something? I’m not going out with you, no matter what country you’re from.”

“Naw-aw, I made the offer before I heard how concerned your family was, so it’s hardly a pity date. How about giving me your phone number?”

“No,” she said and brought the truck to a jerky stop.

He shrugged, and produced a dog-eared business card with the Fish and Game logo from his shirt pocket. “I’ll give you mine then. If you have any trouble with bears, give me a call. There’s a lot of big griz up there, all gathered to catch salmon at this time of year, and they can be a problem when you’re camping.” He waited a second, then added. “It’s my job.”

He didn’t think she’d take it, but at last she plucked the card from his fingers and stuffed it in her own shirt pocket – which he couldn’t help but notice was tantalizing rounded and the button had to be directly over her…

“Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind,” she said without conviction. Damned if her bottom lip didn’t look just a little bit sulky too. He was torn between wanting to kiss it and wanting to laugh. Since either choice would likely be harmful to his health, however, he opted to get out of the truck. “Wait.” He leaned back in the window. “Be sure to leave the Richardson Highway or you’ll end up in Fairbanks. Take the Tok Cutoff and you’ll come right to Chistochina.”

She saluted him and Josh walked back to get his tire. He thumped on the canopy after he put the tailgate back up and watched the pickup drive away until he couldn’t see it anymore. It was the fourth of July today and he could swear that there were fireworks going off in his bloodstream, thanks to Kenzie Macleod. And her initial outburst had been downright endearing rather than irritating. Why would that be? And why would the woman who just turned him down be miles more attractive to him than that cute redheaded waitress at The Caribou? Could it be those big gray eyes that arrested him? Or maybe it was her long, long legs.

Or maybe it was the bright blue aura that surrounded her. She probably didn’t know she even had it, never mind that he could see it. And Josh would bet money that she had no idea what it had revealed to him.

Noel's Grace series, Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush series, Jamie McGuire's Providence series, and Lauren Kate's Fallen series. Keary Taylor has the trilogy that features Branded. Another good one.

My other choices (and I read them now too, I confess!) are other shapeshifters, witches / warlocks, demons, jinn, fallen angels, and now I'm learning a bit more about fae. I tend to avoid angels and ghosts. Just can't seem to get into them.

  52. BY THE WAY! I DO check entries, so like the last two that "entered" and said they did EVERYTHING but aren't on the facebook pages/have private profiles + say they left a Blog comment on the 25th and 26th, well I DELETED all your entries, because 1. you didn't leave any blog post comment and if you lied about that, well you probably lied about the other ones =/ the only one who commented on the 25th is Bama and I personally know her real name is Beth which means the other two lied about. Sorry guys, but I really don't like people who lie about it, so please keep your entries honest as I will ask to check at the end of them before awarding prizes :) I know you guys can appreciate that as well!
